Manuel Seco  (1958 -)

Born in Madrid on the 3rd of October. 1971: Began his musical studies at Madrid’s Real Conservatorio Superior de Música. 1977-79: Is given scholarships to attend the Curso Internacional Manuel de Falla in Granada, Música en Compostela in Santiago de Compostela (La Coruña) and the Curso de Música Barroca y Rococó de San Lorenzo de El Escorial (Madrid), where he studied Paleography with Miguel Querol, Composition with Carmelo Alonso Bernaola and Musicology with Antonio Gallego and Samuel Rubio. Carmelo Alonso Bernaola introduced him to contemporary music. Gained the Composition Prize José Miguel Ruiz Morales. 1991: The publication of Contornos de púrpura y escarlata, opus 58, for piano, by the publisher Ópera tres, was awarded the Prize for Pubishers of Musical Works, of the Ministry of Culture. Member of the jury for the Concurso de Composición Coral de Segorbe (Castellón). 1993: Founded the contemporary music group Concentus Novo
